About us

Cristiano Carchidi

Ciao! I’m Cristiano Carchidi

I’m a certified Italian language teacher with a passion for helping people from around the world discover the beauty of Italian language and culture. I was born in December 1986 in Serra San Bruno, a quiet mountain town in Calabria, and raised in the coastal village of Soverato, on the Ionian Sea.

Academic Background

I hold both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Philosophy from Sapienza University of Rome. My years in Rome were unforgettable, but in 2013 I felt the call for a new adventure—so I moved to Amsterdam, where I still live and work today.

How I Became an Italian Teacher

In Amsterdam, I completed a teaching internship at the Italian Cultural Institute and earned the DITALS certification (Didactics of Italian as a Foreign Language). That was the turning point: teaching Italian became not only my profession, but also my true vocation. Soon after, I launched my own project—ItalianTeacher.eu—with the aim of offering personalized Italian lessons, both online and in person.

Teaching Philosophy

Over the past 10 years, I’ve had the pleasure of working with hundreds of students from all walks of life—professionals, language enthusiasts, expats, and people reconnecting with their Italian roots. My approach is flexible, student-centered, and focused on real communication. I believe language learning should be clear, motivating, and adapted to each individual.

My goal is simple: to help you speak Italian with confidence—not just to memorize rules, but to actually use the language in real-life situations. Whether you're starting from scratch or fine-tuning your fluency, I’m here to guide you with structure, empathy, and a touch of southern Italian warmth.

Martina

Ciao! I’m Martina

I’m a professional Italian teacher with a strong background in linguistics and foreign languages. I was born in Civitavecchia (Rome) in 1999 and lived in a small town by the sea called Santa Marinella (Rome) until 2021, when I moved to Utrecht. But my journey around the world started long before that: since 2015, I’ve been travelling for study and work.

Academic Background

I attended a language-focused high school, then earned a Bachelor's degree in Cultural and Linguistic Mediation at Roma Tre University, focusing on Russian and Spanish. Later, I completed a Research Master's in Linguistics at Utrecht University, where I explored topics such as second language acquisition and psycholinguistics. Since July 2025, I also obtained the CEDILS, formal certification in teaching Italian as a second language.

Becoming an Italian teacher

I started teaching Italian in 2018, both in person and online. Over the years, I’ve worked with a wide range of students — from beginners to advanced speakers, each with their own goals, learning styles, and cultural backgrounds. As a multilingual and a language learner myself, I understand the challenges that come with learning a new language. This allows me to support my students with empathy, structure, and a clear sense of direction.

My teaching philosophy

I focus on clarity, engagement, and autonomy. My goal is not just to teach you grammar rules, but to help you understand how the Italian language works — so you can use it confidently in real contexts.

My lessons combine structured explanations with practical use, and I always adapt my teaching to the student’s pace and objectives. I believe that learning Italian should be both effective and enjoyable.
